Why can't I see the virtual brick under the 'Available Bricks' tab of the EV3 MINDSTORMS programming software?

When using Mac OSX, make sure to reboot your machine after installing the software. If you do not, then there is a possibility that you might not be able to see the virtual brick under the available bricks tab of EV3 MINDSTORMS programming software.
